What is a wax melt?
Wax melts are small, fragranced pieces of wax used to scent your home. Made from various waxes like soy, paraffin, or beeswax, they come in various shapes and sizes, including hearts, flowers, and clamshells. Unlike candles, wax melts don't have a wick and are melted using a tea light burner or an electric wax melt burner to release the fragrance into your home.
Why did we choose soy wax for our wax melts?
All of our wax melts are made from 100% eco -friendly soy wax. The reason we chose soy wax is because it offers a cleaner burn which means no toxins are released into the air while still offering an incredible long lasting scent throw and achieving and maintaining our high quality finish standards.
How do wax melts work?
How wax melts work is really simple.
- You take 1 - 2 segments of your wax melts and place them into either your tea light burner or electric wax melt burner.
- As the heat from the tea light or electric burner begins to warm and melt the wax (hence the name).
- The melted pool of wax releases the fragrance is contained within the wax melt into the air and fills your home with a beautiful aroma for you to sit back and release to.
How long do wax melts last for?
The burn time and how long wax melts last depends on two main factors:
- How much fragrance oil has been used when the wax melt had been made
- The thickness of the wax melt itself
When we are hand making our wax melts we make sure the maximum amount of fragrance oil has been added. This is to maximise the burn time our soy wax melts offer to our customers whilst providing an incredible long lasting scent throw.

How do I make my wax melts last longer?
While wax melts don't technically expire, they can lose their scent throw strength over time. We've put together 3 key tips to help you get the most out of your wax melts and make them last longer:
- Proper Storage is Key: Store your wax melts in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keeping your wax melts out of sunlight will help prevent your wax melts being warmed up and releasing the fragrance when not being used. A cupboard or chest of draws would be the best place to store your wax melts.
- Match Your Burner to Your Melts: Using the right size burner matters. A burner with a dish too close to the heat will melt the wax quicker giving you a stronger scent throw but will reduce the burn time of your wax melts a lot. releasing fragrance in a shorter burst. Choose a burner which the dish is correctly distanced from the heat source to make your wax melt last longer and give you more burn time.
- Wax Type Matters: Different waxes have varying burn times and fragrance throw strengths. Soy wax, for example, is known for its clean burn and good scent throw. Consider the wax type when choosing melts and using them for optimal results.
By following these tips, you can make sure your wax melts not just last longer but you also get the maximum amount of burn time possible to fill your home with the beautiful fragrance of your choice.
